MICHIGAN WEDDING VENUES - BEAUTIFUL WEDDING VENUES TO CONSIDER

You’ve gotten engaged and you're in the middle of setting a date and trying to decide where to say I do. Whether you are up north, on the east or the west side of Michigan, they are unique options to meet your needs and plan the best wedding day experience for you, your family, and friends. To keep things simple, I will divide the areas of focus into 3 categories; Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Northern Michigan.

Detroit, Michigan

Detroit is a unique place to get married, because you can just about find any type of venue. Do you want a location near water? Or how about a rooftop? Maybe you would be interested in something more historic. Detroit has everything imaginable from cityscapes to nature infused areas. Here a five venues in Detroit, that are beautiful as they are unique.

  1. If you are looking for a venue located right by the water The War Memorial, provides a beautiful view of the Detroit River. This venue has indoor and outdoor options for your wedding day, that make planning a wedding less stressful. Also the building located on the property is historic providing beautiful artistic moment with pictures and video.

  2. If you’re looking for a botanical garden you have to consider the Planterra Consevatory: This venues is located in west Bloomfield Hills. This venue allows for both ceremony and reception to take place. Inside this botanical oasis, you have the perfect backdrop to create an experience that is both tantalizing for the eyes, but a nice way to incorporate green/nature into your day

  3. Right in the heart of downtown Detroit is the Fox Theater. This historic venue has all the historic and grandeur one can need on their big day. Guests will be in awe on arrival, and the staff is exceptional in executing the vision you set forth.

  4. If you want your guests to experience a rooftop ceremony, The Madison is what you are looking for. Perfect for smaller weddings, this venue provides a satisfying Detroit Wedding experience right in the city.

  5. If you’re looking for a venue that has it all, Shinola is what you are looking for! You can get ready, married, and celebrate your reception here. Also it is the perfect back-drop for pictures. Iconic black and white flooring, glass ceilings, and a reception space that allows for decor to be pushed to your exact vision.

Grand Rapids, Michigan

West Michigan was where we started filming weddings. Not only do they have iconic places, but they have more and more being added. I have listed 5 locations that can create an experience you will not soon forget.

  1. The marble enchanted high-rise at The McKay Tower is the perfect space for any elegant reception. This venue is decorated with beautiful chandeliers and stone that sets this place apart.

  2. If history is important to you, The Amway Grand will be perfect. Historical design with the ability to get ready, marry, and celebrate all in one space. Located right in the heart of Grand Rapids, this hotel offers all one would need to create an elevated experience for wedding guests.

  3. Tucked away from the city, The Felt Estate is a beautiful venue that offers and elegant experience off the beaten path; with multiple ceremony spaces, indoor and outdoor options for cocktail hour, and nature all around, you can’t go wrong.

  4. A hidden gem tucked away in Battle creek, MI is Greencrest Manor Estate. This venue is . Dripping with beauty indoors and outdoors, surely to impress any guest that attends. The design is historic, and French-inspired.

  5. If you are looking for a space that has both indoor and outdoor options Venue3Two should definitely be one you consider. It’s perfect for getting ready, ceremony, and reception. The house has beautiful grounds allowing endless creative options for both your photographer and videographer.

Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan wedding venues is all about the beauty of Michigan. An incredible escape from the city, providing guests with an evening that will definitely make all the hard preparation worth it. Here are 4 venues that will be sure to please.

  1. Right off the water, Walloon Lake Country Club is perfect for intimate weddings. They nailed the layout of the grounds with this one. Sometimes when everything is one location, it can feel cramped, but not here. Your guests will have fun exploring the space without feeling like things are too close or too far. And when the sunset hits the lake, that beautiful light floods the reception space creating a magical evening look you will never forget.

  2. What would this list be without at least one winery? Aurora Cellars is absolutely gorgeous. The ceremony is near their iconic willow tree, that you have to see for yourself. No shortage of beauty to capture pictures and videos, this venue creates the perfect outdoor experience that will absolutely impress your guests.

  3. If you are looking for a unique wedding experience for guests The Homestead with a driving range that has become somewhat of a tradition, look no further. The ceremony is located on a hill overlooking a picturesque view. Guests can be shuttled or ride a ski-loft up to the ceremony and down to the reception area. The grounds are also perfect for pictures and for guests to book their stay.

  4. I recently filmed a wedding at Bayview Weddings at Gallaghar Farms and this venue provides everything you’re going to need. Absolutely stunning wedding ceremony sight on a high. Shuttles for you and your wedding guest to navigate this beautiful grounds, and an exceptional staff that is accessible and just wonderful at what they do!

When planning your wedding venue there are so many different factors to consider. After filming hundreds of weddings I am often reminded how important the vendors are to creating a day that is in line with your vision.
